innocence, once mine.
the passing of innocence to another soul
brought to this world we were,
with such innocence.
none other like it.
an innocence not duplicated,
yet moves in harmony with those around you.
innocence reminded you that you were alive.
innocence cautioned you that you were given one chance.
innocence outlined that you alone
weren't the only person with emotions.
innocence, once mine.
how could you have been abandoned?
you were the life buoy to my drowning self,
you were the bell that freed me after each class
you were the curtain to the blazing sun.
the clouds sweep past
and the darkness is paying its debt
to the old sun while
the food on the table gets old.
i no longer think of the food as a blessing
nor the beautiful cycle that takes place up above
while i watch from indoors.
while i waste away,
longing for the self i lost,
you rush to bless another.
for you deserve to be cherished
and not abused.
so there you have it young one,
run free,
for you have taken all that i had
while i take part in ruining a future
that you could have had.
forgive me.
i cannot act.
i cannot move.
hopelessly i’m sat on my front porch,
the wood beneath me creaking,
the air heavy with heat,
silence pressing against my chest.
scratches of my vinyl,
drowned by laughter outside.
my dog remains watching all that is left of me
slowly fade away,
soon to be just a gust of air.
i burn on the inside for not reaching
what i could have been.
while you hover in the sky
waiting to bless one of the neighbour's kids.
welcome young one,
and farewell to me.

The darkness is paying its depth, such a beautiful line omg
wow, i had to pause my music so i could fully appreciate this
